Tips to Get Your Ford Ready for Spring
Spring is in the air and everybody is thinking about the warmer months and clear roads that lie ahead. But the frigid months have already wreaked havoc on your car. That’s why it is important to do a few simple preventative maintenance procedures on your Ford cars now that warmer weather is here.
Check your tire pressure
The air pressure in your tires can change when the temperature changes. According to some studies, you could lose or gain up to a pound of pressure per square inch for every 10 degrees that the weather changes. Keep an eye on your tires to see if they look underinflated or overinflated and adjust the tire pressure accordingly. If you are unsure how much pressure should be in the tires, check your owner’s manual.
Wash it
Your Ford has been through salt, snow, ice, mud and so much more elements during the winter months. Now that the weather is warming up, give it a thorough cleaning on the inside and the outside. Vacuum it out, wash the body and be sure to get the undercarriage, too. This part of the car is often neglected and it can rust and corrode due to the salt and other substances. If you can afford it, take your Ford to get it detailed for the best possible results.
Check your wipers
Windshield wipers go through torture during the winter months. The ice and freezing rain can cause them to crack, chip and even break. Make sure you check them thoroughly once the weather warms up. You don’t want to be stuck in a downpour of spring rain and have your wipers be less than adequate to clear off your windshield. If you need to, change them. It only takes a few minutes and windshield wipers are quite inexpensive.
Follow these tips and your Ford cars should be prepared to make it through the spring and well into the summer months!
