Auto Review: Wichita 2010 Ford Edge
It isn’t really fair to call the Wichita 2010 Ford Edge an SUV, but that’s what it is. It looks more like a truncated SUV or a large station wagon, maybe somewhere in between the latter and an SUV. But let’s call it an SUV.
It comes in 7 trim levels and each one has its own distinctive look and feel.

All the trims come with 4 doors, but beyond that the divisions begin. The SE trim is only available with front wheel drive. The SEL, Limited and Sport trims, however, are all available as either FWD or AWD. Now let’s look at the individual specs that make each vehicle unique.
- SE trim – 18 mpg in the city and 25 mpg on the highway. Seats 5. Cargo capacity = 69 feet to seat 1; 32.2 feet to seat 2. 6-speed automatic transmission. Cloth seats. Single-zone manual AC. 17″ painted aluminum wheels. AM/FM stereo with single disc CD/MP3 player.
- SEL trim – 18/25 mpg. Seats 5. Cargo capacity same as SE trim. Transmission the same as the SE. 6-way power driver’s seat. AM/FM stereo with 6-disc in dash CD/MP3 player. Leather-wrapped steering wheel with secondary audio controls. 18″ painted aluminum wheels. Reverse sensing system. Keyless entry keypad.
- Limited trim - 18/25. Seats 5. Leather-trimmed seats. Ambient lighting. Premium sound system. 18″ chrome-clad wheels.
- Sport trim – 18/25. Seating and cargo capacity the same. Trademarked SYNC system. Ambient lighting. AM/FM stereo with 6-disc CD changer. 20″ premium chrome-clad aluminum wheels.
Each trim level also comes with unique available options that include auto-dimming rearview mirror, automatic headlamps, SYNC, heated front seats, ambient lighting, voice-activated navigation system, integrated SIRIUS travel link and power liftgate, just to name a few. You can learn more about these options at the Ford website.
The Wichita 2010 Ford Edge is an SUV that’s not an SUV. It’s a crossover vehicle that SUV lovers will love for its compactness without sacrificing the sport or utility features of the larger vehicles.
