Auto Review: 2010 Ford F-450 XLT
The 2010 Ford F-450 XLT comes with your choice of drivetrains – the 4X2 or the 4X4. The 4X2 is rear wheel drive, but it does pack some power. Of course, its 4X4 counterpart does too. Additionally, the 4X4 shift comes in electronic or manual, your choice.

The F-450 showcases a 6.4-liter V8 engine with an OHV valvetrain and twin turbo turbocharger.
The steering consists of a re-circulating ball, giving you lots of flexibility and an apt turning circle. The rear suspension is leaf with an anti-roll bar and heavy duty shocks. You get the same on the front with coil springs. The rear springs are leaf.
The transmission on the 4X2 is a 5-speed automatic with overdrive. The 4X4 is equippped with a 6-speed manual with overdrive or the 5-speed automatic with OD.
The exterior box length on both vehicles is 98 inches. The total length is 262.4. Horsepower registers at 350 at 3,000 rpm and torque at 650 square pound feet at 2,000 rpm. That’s impressive, even for the F-450s size.
But lookout! The payload is max. 6,180 pounds for the 4X2 and 5,830 for the 4X4. Maximum trailer weight is 16,000 pounds for both trucks. And there’s lots of interior legroom to go with it. This power and true Ford pickup lovers will eat it up.
Other standard features include:
- Cruise control
- Power windows
- Day-night rearview mirror
- Split-bench front seat
- 6 passenger seating with a 5-passenger option
